Ms. Dhonna Goodale and her husband Bobby Goodale of Goodale Productions celebrated their son, J.R. Jesse Robinson Goodale IV’s 18th birthday, with a blowout bash at Georgio’s Baiting Hollow at Fox Hill in the Hampton’s on January 22.

Dhonna appeared in The Wiz back in the day, and invited her friend and former castmate André De Shields to join in the celebration. As a special favor to Dhonna, André, clad in his original Wiz costume and accompanied by David Alan Bunn (piano), James “Biscuit” Rouse (drums) and Steven “Styles” Rodriguez (bass), sang “So You Wanted to Meet the Wizard”.

The Color Purple‘s Chaz Shepherd, Ms. Alfa Anderson and Ms. Norma Jean Wright, former Ladies of Chic, now known as “Next Step“, also performed.

Dhonna also surprised André with a cake to celebrate his 70th birthday. André recently returned from Chicago where he was starring in Jerry Mitchell’s Gotta Dance,  set to open in the Fall on Broadway.
